UK is leader in falls prevention
17/07/2007 16:36:36

Taken from Physiotherapy Frontline 20 June 2007:

A Cambridgeshire health authority has set up a falls prevention exercise scheme for older people. research has shown that for people to benefit, they must maintain their exercises. This has been achieved by making the classes easily accessible. In working with the local authority, classes have been set up in settings such as care homes, sheltered housing complexes, local authority-run exercise classes, independent gyms and even village halls. By forming links with local transport organisations, they have ensured that access to classes is easy as possible.

Pelvic girdle pain affects one in five pregnant women
13/07/2007 13:35:56

As reported in Physiotherapy Frontline, 4 July 2007.

Pubic symphysis dysfunction is an under-diagnosed condition that affects 20% of all pregnant women. The CSP clinical interest group, The Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Women's Health has produced two evidence based leaflets to try and plug a perceived gap in information for practitioners and patients. Prompt identification, assessment and treatment is the best management for this condition.

For information on how to obtain the leaflets, contact: www.acpwh.org.uk
