Meet the Team

Rushcliffe Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic would be nothing without its dedicated team of professional, personal and highly qualified professionals. At RPC we have a team of three Chartered Physiotherapists, a Sports Massage Therapist & Personal Trainer, two Acupuncturists and a Homeopath. All of them are highly skilled and share many years of experience in a wide variety of clinical fields. All clinicians regularly attend training courses to keep up to date with new skills and ideas within their practice. This ensures clients receive the highest possible standard of care to help resolve their problem. Please read below to find out the individual history of our clinicians.

 
 

Alison Bates Grad Assoc MSc MCSP

Alison qualified in 1987 from the Sheffield Polytechnic School of Physiotherapy. She spent her first three years working at the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham and went on to study a Masters in Sports Science. She has worked in private practice since 1990 and set up Rushcliffe Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic in 1994. Alison has worked with Nottingham County Rowing Association & the Great Britain Rowing Team for a number of years and has rowed at National level herself. Alison's particular interests are in chronic pain management, connective tissue pathology and rehabilitation after trauma and sports injuries. She also holds her postgraduate qualification in Acupuncture and has recently attended courses in connective tissue release.

 

Katie Blackburn BSc(Hons) Physiotherapy

Katie qualified from University in Sheffield in 1998. Since, Katie worked for over five years in the NHS and private Nuffield and BMI Hospitals in the NorthWest and London. During this time she focused her speciality in musculo-skeletal conditions and sports injuries. Katie then spent over two years in Manchester working in private physiotherapy clinics before she moved to Nottingham this year. She was based at a clinic in a large health club where she was able to take her clients to the next level in their rehabilitation with direct access to gym facilities and hydrotherapy. She was also fortunate to work alongside premiership football and rugby club physiotherapists and treat first team and academy players from Sale Sharks Rugby Club. One of Katie's areas of interest is treating overuse problems and mechanical dysfunctions. She has great results in treating running problems, aches and pains and overuse injuries and is always looking for more clients with these challenges! Katie also holds her postgraduate qualification in Acupuncture and has recently been attending courses on taping / strapping sports injuries and massage.

 Frances Millar Grad Dip Phys

Frances qualified in 1985 from Bradford Hospitals School of Physiotherapy. After spending five years in the NHS, specialising in treating musculoskeletal conditions, she moved into private practice. Over her years as a Chartered Physiotherapist Frances has gained a wide experience in treating musculoskeletal disorders, post-operative conditions and sports injuries of all kinds. She is a member of the Society of Orthopaedic Medicine and has her postgraduate qualification to practice Acupuncture. Frances recently attended a course on using the "Swiss / Gym Ball" and is really enjoying using this as part of her current practice to aid her client's rehabilitaion. Frances participates in water-skiing, swimming, mixed hockey and scuba diving in any spare time she has from her three young children!

 

Mark Gibson Dip PT CSMT

Mark retrained in 2006 after many years in IT and is now a fully qualified Sports Massage Therapist. He has also undergone further training in Swedish Body Massage and Indian Head Massage and is a Personal Trainer with a growing list of clients. He is currently studying for a qualification in exercise prescription for Pre/Post-Natal ladies. Mark's skills are also of great benefit to anyone seeking a professional massage to relieve general day to day aches and pains or muscle tension particularly after exercise of any kind. Mark is a keen runner, having completed both the London and Robin Hood Marathons and understands the importance of regular massage treatments in injury prevention and performance management for athletes and sportsmen of all abilities.

 

 

Julie Devlin Dip Ac MBAcC

Julie graduated in 1996 from the Northern College of Acupuncture, having studied for three years with Chinese and European tutors of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Julie has been practicing at Rushcliffe Physiotherapy Clinic for several years and is a member of the British Acupuncture Council. Julie provides an accurate diagnosis and offers professional and confidential health care. She has lectured at the Northern College of Acupuncture on their MSc course and runs another busy practice in Leicestershire. Julie specialises in stress and emotional problems, menstrual and menopausal problems, gastrointestinal complaints, indigestion, IBS, migraines, chronic and acute pain relief, arthritis and much more. She is also a member of The Acupuncture Fertility Network, specialising in treating couples and individuals struggling to conceive and those on assisted conception programmes.
