We are an established Physiotherapy practice in Ruddington, Nottingham with over 16 years experience in providing numerous patients with accurate diagnosis and treatment of a whole range of medical conditions and sports related injuries.
On your first visit you will be taken through a thorough and comprehensive assessment to establish your problem. This will be achieved by a subjective history of your complaint and the appropriate objective musculo-skeletal and biomechanical assessment, which is undertaken by your Chartered Physiotherapist. Once we have accurately diagnosed your problem we will discuss the short and long-term treatment and management with you, taking into account your personal needs and goals.
Early referral is an important factor in recovery time. At our clinic we aim to provide you with an appointment within 24 hours. A GP referral is not necessary, although we work closely with GP’s and other medical professionals to provide you with the best possible health care. We are recognised by all major health insurance companies and also deal with personal insurance claim issues.
PATIENT SPECIFIC REHAB
There are no two patients alike. Posture, injury and biomechanics vary from person-to-person. Therefore, individualised assessment and treatment is used at RPC to identify the patient specific requirements needed for optimal recovery or injury prevention.
Each patient is assessed through posture and movement analysis to determine their imbalances and needs from treatment.
Different postures illustrate which muscles are weak and need strengthening comparing with those which are shortened and need lengthening and massage
This invidualised approach can also be specifically important on the sports field, as one exercise program cannot be designed for an entire sports team. Each player has different muscle imbalances, history of injuries, field position and particular skills on the field. Often one particular activity or sport strengthens certain parts of the body, but not others. Cross training is one method that aims to eliminate this.
A functional exercise program should include a number of different elements, designed for the individual, to be effective:
Goal and performance level identification
Flexibility, balance and power.
Core stability
Maintain correct athletic posture for long periods
Correct imbalances between the upper and lower body
Progressive program using strength and speed training for patients specified sport
Varied program throughout the year, peaking for competitions with adequate recovery time to achieve optimal sport results
Individualised
Sport and position specific
Custom designed program
Involvement of a coach or trainer who specialises in the particular sporting field
Using a Physiotherapist to include functional training for injury prevention or recovery into their exercise program

POSTURE AND MOVEMENT
Optimal posture is a state of balance that protects the supporting structures against injury or protective
deformity" (1947).
Posture is used in the assessment of a patient and helps to determine treatment in Physiotherapy.
It is described as either static/resting posture as in sitting or standing, or dynamic posture which means
during an activity for example in a golf swing or during walking.
Good alignment of the body ensures good mechanical balance, one that allows for minimum stress to each joint.
Protecting the body from injury and lets the body function most efficiently and effectively.
A poor posture, increases the stress to the joints which can therefore result in stiff necks, shoulder hunching, backaches,
headaches, tightness in the lower limbs, breathlessness and predispose you to various other injuries.
Simply put, poor mechanics such as muscle dysfunction will lead to an unstable joint and therefore pain.
Factors causing postural changes can be due to external reasons, such as work surface height, lighting and equipment.
Or internal reasons such as general health, poor postural habits, growth spurts
(children tend to slouch when taller than their peers) and stresses/pain from abuse, overuse and disuse.
Our patient approach is holistic; that is all patients undergo a detailed postural & biomechanical assessment
to assist in establishing the source of the pain, as opposed to the site of pain.
This management strategy assists in preventing the recurrence of injury.
Patients are empowered to take control of their own conditions through education,
and individual specific rehabilitation programs.
Elite athletes are biomechanically assessed and given prescription prehabilitation programs.
This is to improve their individual sports performance, and prevent injuries before they occur.
Furthermore, it empowers them to manage their own dysfunctions wherever they are worldwide
To stay at the forefront of advances in the clinical practice and science of physiotherapy,
staff and partners attend frequent courses and monthly in-service training.
Over the years the practice has provided on-field support for numbers of events .
During 2010/11 season Laura Fox covered on pitch support for 1st Men Rugby Team.
